AFC Women's Champions League

The AFC Women's Champions League is Asian club football's premier women's competition, launched fully in the 2024-25 season after years of groundwork by the Asian Football Confederation. The idea for a continental women's club championship had been discussed since the late 2010s, and a pilot event brought together a small number of teams to test the concept before the competition took its current shape. The full edition introduced a preliminary stage feeding into a group phase, followed by knockout rounds leading to a final, with member associations across Asia each represented by a qualifying club. The competition gives women's football in Asia a continental showcase comparable to what men's clubs have long had through the AFC Champions League, and it is widely seen as a milestone in the growth of the women's game across the confederation.
