AFF Championship

The AFF Championship is the leading international football tournament of Southeast Asia, contested every two years by the men's national teams of the ASEAN Football Federation. First played in 1996, it has since become the region's most watched football event, known at various points by different sponsor names. The format combines a group stage with a knockout phase, where the semi-finals and final are traditionally played over two legs, home and away, adding a layer of drama rarely seen in shorter cup tournaments. Thailand has been the tournament's dominant force over the decades, winning the title more often than any other side in the region. For players across Southeast Asia, lifting the trophy remains one of the highest honours in the international game.
