Cup

The Armenian Cup is the country's main domestic knockout competition, run in parallel with the Premier League and open to clubs from across the various tiers of Armenian football. Given the small size of the country's football pyramid, the early rounds often bring top-flight clubs face to face with amateur and lower-league sides, while the closing stages are usually contested by the league's established leading clubs. Pyunik and Ararat Yerevan number among the tournament's most successful sides over the years, mirroring their standing in the league itself. As in most national cups, victory typically comes with a route into European qualifying rounds, giving the winning club a rare continental fixture regardless of where it finished in the league table that season.
