Canadian Championship

The Canadian Championship is the national cup competition that decides Canada's representative in the CONCACAF Champions Cup. It grew out of the Voyageurs Cup, a trophy first awarded in 2002, and became an annual tournament in 2008 before settling into the straight knockout format used today, giving Canadian professional clubs a structured path to continental football. Since the Canadian Premier League's launch, its clubs have joined Major League Soccer's Canadian sides in the competition, widening participation across the country. Toronto FC have been the tournament's dominant force, winning the trophy a record eight times, more than any other club in the competition's history. The final act of each edition remains a showcase for Canadian club football's biggest rivalries.
