League Cup

The EFL Cup, long known as the League Cup and currently branded the Carabao Cup, is an English knockout competition launched in 1960-61 and open to all 92 clubs across the Premier League and English Football League. Unlike the FA Cup, there are no non-league entrants; semi-finals are played over two legs, while every other round, including the final at Wembley, is a single match decided by extra time and penalties if needed. Liverpool hold the outright record with the most League Cup wins of any club. Regarded as the least prestigious of England's major cups, it nonetheless offers a guaranteed route into Europe for its winner and has often served as a proving ground for young players and rotated squads.
