FA Cup

The FA Cup is the oldest football competition in the world, first contested in 1871-72 and won by Wanderers. Organised by the Football Association, it is open to clubs from every level of the English game — from Premier League giants to part-time non-league sides — with lower-division clubs entering in earlier qualifying rounds and top-flight teams joining from the third round onward. This structure gives the competition its famous tradition of giant-killing upsets, where minnows occasionally knock out top-tier opposition in front of packed local crowds. Arsenal hold the record for the most FA Cup wins, just ahead of Manchester United. Played out as a single-elimination knockout, with replays for drawn ties abolished from the 2024-25 season, the FA Cup final at Wembley remains one of English football's greatest occasions and a fixture woven deeply into the sport's history and folklore.
