Serie A Women

Serie A Femminile is Italy's top division of women's football, restructured into a fully professional competition from the 2022-23 season, when its players became the first Italian female athletes to receive full professional status under national law. The league is played as a round-robin among ten clubs, with the leading sides then splitting into a championship phase to decide the title and the bottom clubs fighting to avoid relegation. Juventus emerged as the division's dominant force from 2017, the year the Turin club launched its women's section, pulling rivals such as Roma, Fiorentina and Inter into a genuine title race. The recent move to professionalism has brought rising investment, improved facilities and growing broadcast coverage to a league that had long trailed its European peers.
