Osiyo kubogi (U-23)

The AFC U23 Asian Cup is the Asian Football Confederation's championship for national under-23 teams, launched in 2013 as the AFC U-22 Championship before being renamed first to the U-23 Championship and then, more recently, to its current title. Sixteen teams compete, divided into four groups of four, with the top two from each group advancing to a knockout stage of quarter-finals, semi-finals and a final. Editions held in Olympic years carry extra weight, since the leading finishers claim Asia's places at the Summer Games football tournament, alongside a play-off route for one further spot. That dual purpose, continental title and Olympic ticket combined, has made the competition one of the most closely followed youth tournaments in Asian football.
