Cup

The Belgian Cup traces its roots to an amateur provinces-based competition in 1907-08, with the first club-based edition following in 1911-12; play was interrupted repeatedly around both World Wars before settling into unbroken annual competition by the mid-1960s. Roughly 300-plus clubs from the Pro League down through the amateur pyramid enter across some eleven rounds, with higher-tier and European-involved clubs joining later via byes. Club Brugge lead the all-time list of winners, just ahead of Anderlecht and Standard Liège. Nicknamed domestically as one of the quickest routes into Europe, the Belgian Cup guarantees its winner a Europa League qualifying place.
