CAFA Nations Cup

The CAFA Nations Cup is an international tournament for the national teams of Central Asia, launched in 2023 by the Central Asian Football Association, a regional body founded in 2014 within the AFC. The competition brings together the association's core members — including Iran, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan — plus invited guest nations, playing group stages leading to a final on a biennial cycle. Iran won the inaugural edition in 2023. Notably, FIFA has directly supported the young competition with funding and technical assistance, an unusually strong endorsement for a sub-confederation tournament, and the event has quickly become the centrepiece of the region's international calendar.
