Copa America Femenina

The Copa América Femenina is the South American championship for women's national teams, organized by CONMEBOL and first contested in 1991, making it one of the pioneering women's international competitions in world football. The tournament is typically played as a single round-robin group among the confederation's national teams, with the final standings deciding both the continental champion and the region's qualification places for the FIFA Women's World Cup and the Olympic football tournament. Brazil have been the overwhelmingly dominant force in the competition's history, winning the large majority of editions and rarely finishing outside the top two, while Argentina have been the most consistent challengers to that dominance. The tournament has played a central role in growing the women's game across a continent long associated primarily with the men's sport.
