The Eredivisie is the Netherlands' top football division, launched in 1956 when Dutch football turned professional, replacing an amateur championship that dated back to 1898. Eighteen clubs play a double round-robin of 34 matches, with the bottom two relegated and the last Eredivisie place decided by a promotion/relegation play-off; a separate mid-table play-off awards a Conference League berth. Ajax are the record champions of the Eredivisie era, with Rinus Michels' and Johan Cruyff's early-1970s 'Total Football' side producing three consecutive European Cups and leaving one of the sport's most influential tactical legacies. Ajax, PSV and Feyenoord have won all but two Eredivisie titles since 1956, and the trio's derbies remain the fiercest fixtures in Dutch football. Follow live scores, fixtures, results, standings and statistics for the competition, updated in real time.
