Super Cup

Russia's Super Cup was launched in 2003 as a single match between the Premier League champion and Russian Cup holder, with the league runner-up substituting if one club completed the double. Originally played in March, it moved permanently to July from 2012 to align with a shift in the league's own season start, and the trophy is held as a challenge cup until the following year's match. Zenit Saint Petersburg are clearly the competition's most successful club, well ahead of CSKA Moscow in the chasing pack.
