Toto Cup Ligat Al

The Toto Cup Ligat Al is Israel's domestic league cup, contested by clubs from the top flight and traditionally played early in the season, ahead of or alongside the opening rounds of the league championship itself. The competition has historically used a group-stage format before moving into knockout rounds, giving it a distinct structure from the pure single-elimination format of the State Cup and offering an early opportunity for silverware and match sharpness before the season builds momentum. Because it sits outside the main league table, the Toto Cup allows managers to experiment with squad rotation and give younger players competitive minutes without affecting championship or relegation battles. It remains a lower-profile prize than the league or the State Cup, but is still valued as genuine silverware within Israeli football.
