Super Cup

The Uzbekistan Super Cup is a single-match curtain-raiser played between the reigning Super League champion and the holder of the Uzbekistan Cup, following a format used widely across European and Asian football to open the domestic season. Because it depends on the previous season's league and cup winners, the fixture sometimes reunites the same club against itself when one team has completed the domestic double, in which case the runner-up in one of the competitions typically steps in. Pakhtakor Tashkent, as the country's most successful club overall, has featured in the fixture on numerous occasions given its frequent presence at the top of both the league table and the cup. The match traditionally serves as an early-season form guide and a low-stakes celebration of the previous campaign's achievements.
