UEFA Youth League

The UEFA Youth League is Europe's leading club competition for Under-19 players, launched in the 2013-14 season to give young talent a taste of continental competition before senior football. Its structure largely mirrors the UEFA Champions League: clubs whose senior teams reach the Champions League league phase field a youth side, while additional places go to domestic youth champions from other top-ranked associations who qualify through a separate path. The competition runs through group and knockout rounds, with the later stages narrowing to a final-four weekend. Those finals are traditionally staged in Nyon, Switzerland, the city that also hosts UEFA's headquarters, giving the tournament a distinctive home. For academies across Europe, the Youth League has become an important proving ground and a showcase for future first-team stars.
