Bulgaria's First League traces back to 1924, when the national championship began as a knockout tournament before evolving into a full league format by the late 1940s. The competition's heart is the “Eternal Derby” between Levski Sofia, founded in 1914 and named after a revered national hero, and CSKA Sofia, formed in 1948 as the army's club; between them the two sides have won the large majority of Bulgarian titles, with CSKA's haul stretching past 30 championships. More recently, Ludogorets Razgrad has rewritten the record books, a club from a small northeastern town that built an unprecedented run of fourteen consecutive national titles, a level of sustained dominance without parallel in Bulgarian football history. Promotion and relegation link the league to the second tier below. Follow live scores, fixtures, results, standings and statistics for the competition, updated in real time.
