The Gulf Cup of Nations is a regional international tournament for the national teams of the Arabian Gulf, first held in Bahrain in 1970 — predating by nearly half a century the formal federation, the AGCFF, that now organises it. Eight nations take part: Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, the UAE, Oman and Yemen. Nominally biennial, the tournament's schedule has often been disrupted by regional politics, and Iraq were absent for over a decade from 1990 before returning to host and win a memorable home edition. Kuwait are the record champions with ten titles, and the competition retains enormous popular significance across the Gulf, where its matches are among the region's most-watched sporting events. Follow live scores, fixtures, results, standings and statistics for the competition, updated in real time.
