Rossiya kubogi

The Russian Cup is the country's national knockout competition, launched in 1992 after the Soviet Union's dissolution as a clean break from the old Soviet Cup. It has been run since 2022-23 as two parallel paths that converge at the quarter-finals: a round-robin group stage for the 16 Premier League clubs, and a traditional single-match knockout for lower-tier and amateur sides. Lokomotiv Moscow and CSKA Moscow have been the competition's two most successful clubs, closely matched at the top of the all-time list. The 2022-23 restructuring followed Russian clubs' exclusion from UEFA competitions, removing the usual European-qualification incentive that most national cups offer their winner.
